In the modern rubber products industry, the stability of material formulations, mechanical properties, and processing rheology play a decisive role in product quality and production efficiency. Magnesium carbonate (MgCO₃), as a multifunctional inorganic filler and acid-base buffering agent, is widely used in various rubber formulation systems, including natural rubber (NR), styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), neoprene rubber (CR), butadiene rubber (BR), and ethylene-propylene diene monomer (EPDM). The specialized magnesium carbonate series products introduced by Zhongmgy Magnesium Co., Ltd., featuring excellent purity, dispersibility, and pH adjustment performance, serve as indispensable functional additives in rubber formulations.

✅ Technical Advantage 1: Efficient Filler, Enhancing Rubber Processing Performance

1. Excellent filling performance

Magnesium carbonate features low density, moderate specific surface area, and excellent fluidity. As a white rubber filler, it can partially replace lightweight calcium carbonate and silica, reducing costs while maintaining good mechanical properties and processability.

2. Improve rheological properties

It serves as a lubricant and anti-adhesive agent during the mixing process, helping to improve rubber compound dispersion, reduce Mooney viscosity, and enhance calendering and extrusion efficiency.

3. Improve the appearance and dimensional stability of the product

With natural whiteness and stable structure, it enhances the color consistency of rubber products, reduces shrinkage and deformation, and is suitable for various applications such as sealing strips, rubber rollers, gaskets, rubber plates, and cable sheaths.

✅ Technical Advantage 2: pH Buffer, Ensuring Stable Vulcanization of Rubber Compounds

1.In rubber formulations containing acidic components (such as vulcanizing agents, additives, and resins) or affected by environmental factors (such as humidity and CO₂), pH changes can directly impact the stability of the vulcanization system and crosslink density. Magnesium carbonate, as an alkaline buffering agent, can serve the following functions:

2. Neutralize residual free acids in rubber compounds to prevent premature vulcanization (scorching) or incomplete vulcanization;

Maintain the system pH within an appropriate range to enhance vulcanization efficiency and crosslinking uniformity;

3.Inhibit the degradation of rubber performance caused by metal catalysts or acidic substances.

Particularly suitable for rubber formulations containing organic peroxides, anhydride-based additives, and sulfenamide vulcanizing agents, enhancing system stability and product consistency.

Typical application areas

·Inorganic buffering agents and white fillers in EPDM/SBR formulations;

·PH regulator in acidic sulfurizing agent system;

·Replace alkaline chemical additives in environmentally friendly rubber products, halogen-free flame-retardant rubber, and low smoke sealing rubber.
