In the rubber industry, many people know that chloroprene rubber (CR) has excellent performance, but they overlook the silent "hero" behind it - magnesium oxide.

You may not know that it is this white powdery material that quietly determines the stability, aging resistance, and processing safety of your product.

The "four secret weapons" of magnesium oxide in chloroprene rubber:

Neutralizing acidic by-products:

Chloroprene rubber releases hydrogen chloride (HCl) during processing or vulcanization, which can lead to premature crosslinking or decreased performance. Magnesium oxide can quickly neutralize these acidic substances and maintain the stability of the rubber material.

Extend the burning time and improve safety:

If the rubber is vulcanized in advance during the processing, it will cause irreversible losses. Magnesium oxide prolongs the burning time, making your production more relaxed and safe.

Collaborative sulfur assistance to improve efficiency:

Magnesium oxide and ZnO work together to accelerate the vulcanization reaction, improve the crosslinking density, and elevate the rubber performance to a higher level.

Enhance heat resistance and mechanical properties:

Good heat resistance, aging resistance and tear strength? Behind all of this, there is also a contribution from magnesium oxide.

Industry Tips:

The recommended dosage of magnesium oxide in chloroprene rubber is 4-10 phr (4-10 parts of magnesium oxide per 100 parts of rubber), and the use of highly active magnesium oxide is particularly effective.
